Biographical Note

Lucie Lalancette has experience within Quebec’s education and university systems, both as a teacher and researcher. She also served as a consultant for the Ministry of Education of Quebec, and has contributed to the development of management tools during the education system reform. Moreover, she founded and directed a firm specialised in organising internships in West Africa that were accredited by universities in Quebec, in the areas of education, human rights, democracy and communications.

She obtained master’s and doctoral degrees in Science Education, concentrating in comparative analysis of education, in the international sector, focusing on the theme of developing contextualised knowledge and the appropriation of science and technology in formerly colonized countries, where she established a parallel between the influence of cultural, pedagogical and development contexts. For the past nineteen years, she has been taking part in international projects. She has directed projects funded by various international funding agencies, in education and training system reforms in many countries across the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa.

She has supported the conduct of Sector- based studies, contributed to the development of training policies for education system personnel, and developed organisational analysis tools as well as work situation analysis tools, in an effort to recommend plans and mechanisms for training human resources and reinforcing organisational capacities.

She is knowledgeable about the various initiatives that must be undertaken by ministries of education, particularly in a context of decentralisation. She has managed numerous internal projects, and served as sector Director and Vice President, managing business units and multidisciplinary teams in the private sector.
